In the Arab language, NurZahra is a name full of meaning: it is the Bright Light of Fatima Zahra, daughter of the prophet Mohammed. Windri Widiesta Dhari, Indonesian designer based in Jakarta, chose it for her line of clothing: “Everything began to solve a problem. When I decided to go back to spirituality and wear a hijab (the veil that covers the head, Ed.), I found the choices available frustrating and monotonous. So, in 2009 I designed my line”.

Windri’s inspiration is eclectic and embraces elements of ethnic exoticism. The production, entrusted to artisans and women in rural Indonesian villages, emphasizes the social responsibility that distinguishes Windri’s work.
